About JDSSS

Jabalpur Diocesan Social Service Society (JDSSS) is a NGO and the social work wing of the Diocese of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. It was established in the year 1979 to carry out the social works in the diocese. The society was registered in the year 1993[ 19th November] under the M.P. Society Registration Act 1973 {JJ-1441}. The operational area of the organization is in 8 districts of M.P i.e. Jabalpur, Mandla, Dindori, Seoni, Narsingpur , Katni, Shahdol and Anuppur.

Message Of Director
In tune with the Mission and Vision of the organization, all projects and programs of JDSSS are being undertaken to build a just society where Peace, Justice, Love and Brotherhood prevail and every human enjoy life in its fullness. A lot many people such as National and international donor agencies, Governing Body members, General Body members, dedicated staff and above all the people of the target villages join their hands with JDSSS toachieve the goal which was set since 1979. The organization is contented that it has succeed in building peoples organizations in the form of SHGs, farmers clubs, cooperative societies etc. Today JDSSS is walking with the poor and the marginalized, the people living with HIV/AIDS, the children who are neglected and in distress and deprived of quality education, and with the marginal farmers, all with a single motto of empowering them to have a life in abundance. You too are invited to join hands with JDSSS to build a better society.

GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATION OF CARITAS INDIA :

On 29th November 2011 thediocesan levelGolden Jubilee of CARITAS INDIA was celebrated at JDSSS, Mandla. Since 1976 onwards CARITAS INDIA has been providing fund support to JDSSS for different development activities in Jabalpur, Mandla, Dindori, Seoni, Shahdol, Anuppur and Katni districts. This celebration was toexpress our solidarity and gratitude towards CARITAS INDIA for their generous support for the poor and marginalized people of Jabalpur Diocese. Most Rt. Rev. Bishop Gerald Almeida was the chief guest and Mr. M. Saju, program Officer from CARITAS INDIA, Bhopal was the special guest of this program. The celebration highlighted the major activities supported by CARITAS INDIA. An exhibition was organized to show the programs of JDSSS and cultural heritage of thetribal people. Former Directors, ex-staff of JDSSS, centre in charges, priests,sisters, village leaders and large number of beneficiaries participated in this celebration.


EXPOSURE OF COOPERATIVE FORMATION COMMITTEE FROM PANAGAR, (JBP):

A group of 20 people from the project area of WORLD VISION INDIA came to JDSSS for an exposure to cooperatives formed and nutured by JDSSS. JDSSS is providing consultancy to the SHGs of Panagar for the formation of a new cooperative society. The objective of their visit was to learn about the functioning of cooperative � office, records and documents, role and responsibilities of managers, roles and responsibilities of governing body. The group visited two cooperatives of JDSSS at Dullopur and Maharajpur and got orientation for the formation and functioning of cooperatives.


EXPOSURE OF STUDENTS OF RURAL MANAGEMENT FROM XIDAS, (JBP) :

A group of 21 students of Rural Management came from XIDAS, Jabalpur and visited Harratikur, Mawaijar and Umariya village of Mandla district. JDSSS staff guided them to the villages and organized the people for meeting. The purpose of their visit was to make a study of village life and situation. They were divided into groups and each group was assigned a task such as mapping of the village, discussion with the people, observe the functioning school and interviews with teachers etc. This exposure helped the students to have a rich experience of rural life.


EXPOSURE OF JEEVIKA PROJECT PARTICIPANTS TO JNKVV, JBP :

An exposure was organized for the farmers of Dullopr, Duhania and Sakwahcentres by Jeevika project staff. 39 farmers were taken to JNKVV, Jabalpur for the exposure. The scientists and faculties from JNKVV gave classes to the farmers on horticulture development and agronomy. In horticulture they learned about plantation, cutting and grafting of fruit trees;they alsolearned how to get more fruit in short periods. In agriculture the farmers gained knowledge about SRI, maintaining distance from plant to plant and its benefit. Knowledge about research on different seed was also given to the participants farmers. The fields were shown to the farmers to give the information on how to cultivate more crops like fruit, flower and vegetables besides the main crop in one acre of land.
